I've bounced from Melbourne through Sydney to QLD & then back again & further all the way to Tassie & here I am in Sydney again for a Blue Mountains & Wollongong show before heading back to Brissy & the Sunshine Coast.
The Tassy shows were fabulous & the people even more so especially the folks on Bruny Island. What a magical Isle that is where the rest of Tasmania is referred to as the mainland & being from Melbourne I'm called a foreigner! Freddie & I were served fresh oysters almost directly from the ocean & saw some of the most wonderful views in all of our travels- including looking across the channel from Cape Bruny lighthouse across to snow capped mountains. Awesome!!
Now it's time to put on my Liz & Robbie hat- a role which I LOVE, and play some more of the duets repertoire. So Katoomba, Thirroul, Brissy, Sunshine Coast, Uralla & Wauchope- see you soon! |

I'm in a caravan park at Peregian Beach after a wild & wonderful weekend with Fred Smith in Queensland. The adventure started in Newcastle where Robbie Long & I played some tunes in preparation for our August travels. We then popped down to the local park the next morning half asleep & watched the local kindergarten on a field trip & the ducks frolicking while we played atonal music all in the name of finally getting a publicity photo with both of us in it.
I then set off for the first leg of the trip to Brissy & with the help of some cheerful hippies & Susan my NavWoman successfully got Jess the van without incident to Ballina, where Rachel, Kumar & some fine & fragrant Chicken Korma awaited. It's great to know that you are marryiong into a family with an authentic Indian chef!!
Next stop was freddy's Aunt Lou who is a real champion. I manage to survive all the affectionate attacks from Biscuit her tanker of a labrador who more closely resembled a polar bear than a dog & we played a lovely show at Clovelly Wine Cellars. The gig was only marred by the interesting phenomenon of our super sensitive condenser mic picking up the sound of the trucks zooming past on the freeway.
Our toowoomba house concert with Henry & Lou was an intimate affair with the local bushwalking club turning out in force- thanks guys. But the up Front club in Maleny was probably the jewel of the weekend with a cosy roomful & great food, sound & wine.
Stay tuned Tassie- your turn next weekend! |

So much for a quiet homebound year for me! After a great stint with Robbie Long launching my new Live Duet album, I'm now back on the road with one of Australia's finest songwriters, Fred Smith. He's got a great new record "Texas" about his 3 years spent living in the USA. And we've started putting together new songs for Frencham Smith in the hours between shows. So here we both sit in my sunlit Melbourne kitchen in a laptop frenzy to promote our upcoming shows in Melbourne, Brissy & Tasmania. |
